Ductwork in attic
« on: October 04, 2016, 04:20:39 PM »
I purchased a 1-level house last year that was built in the 1950's. The ductwork is situated in the attic with furnace on the main floor. The current insulation on the ductwork is in poor shape, I believe it is original. Would it be best to hire someone remove the existing insulation and have it spray foamed or simply have it re-wrapped it? I am also planning to have the attic blown in afterwards as the attic insulation in only about R-20.

I live in Northern Ontario Canada so things get pretty chilly in the winter. I also have an AC unit for the summer.

Thanks,
Dave
