HRV Remote Buttons Not working with Ecobee

Hello,

I have just installed an Ecobee Smart Thermostat. I have a lennox furnace and an HRV, FLAir (by venmar) 5585 Compact HE.  The Ecobee is controlling the furnace and HRV just fine.  The HRV is hooked up to the Green and Black wires from the HRV to the ACC+/ACC- ports.  However, now the buttons we have in our washrooms  to manually activate the HRV do not stay lit unless the HRV is already running nor do they activate the HRV.

When i disconnected the HRV from the stock controller it had 4 wires running from the HRV to the controller.  In following with the instructions i have found here and in other locations i connected the G and Black wires as noted above. Now the R and Y are simply disconnected. The wires that go throughout the house to the washrooms are still wired as per the original install and connect to the HRV independent of the wires that go to the ecobee.

Any help is appreciated.
