Title: PTAC New blower motor going the wrong direction/ single ph./ 208 v.
Post by: Reka on May 14, 2012, 12:31:21 PM
Any input or ideas to why this may be occuring. I installed a new blower motor in an Amana PTAC. The direction arrow is on the motor and the direction is going in the opposite direction. Very simple wiring. has a run capacitor. Is it possible that the motor is bad or direction arrow printed on motor may be wrong ?? I had this with two consective motors.

I have seen a bad capacitor cause a single phase psc motor run backwards.  Did you replace the capacitor as well?  Try reversing the wiring on the capacitor first.

Thanks, that was the problem. I had the capacitor wired in correctly. I relized after carefully following the
wiring diagram.
