Title: Gas Range and Venting
Post by: G.P. on December 05, 2012, 09:46:58 AM
What do you do when a kitchen is under renovation and you run the gas line for the range but the vent has not been hooked up yet.
The hole is pre-drilled but the vent has not been hooked up yet?
OR
The home is a new construction with the builders fan in place which is not 400 cfm but the home owner has a 400 cfm fan sitting and ready to be swapped out?

It depends on what the manufacturer of the range states in their manual.  There are no gas codes or building codes that I know of that enforce the use of range hoods.  Even if a range hood was installed, only the client can decide if they want to turn it on.

For some reason I thought that a range had to have  a 400 cfm hood installed.
Just read section 7.32 Residential-type ranges and you are right, no where does it specify that it has to be 400 cfm.  It only specifies clearances. Thanks again for the insight.
