The 313D requires about 2 years (4500 hrs) before you can challenge the exam.  You will have to get hired on as a G2 with an HVAC company then have them signoff so can can challenge the exam or sign you up as an apprentice so you can complete more in class training.

its not as easy as working for a summer and challenging a test. typically you have to get signed up for an apprenticeship work for 4500 hours and take 2 levels of schooling. its usually takes about 2 to 3 years to complete depending on when your employer signs you on as an apprentice. i know some guys who have been working for 2 or 3 years and still haven't been signed on yet. if you have worked in the trade for a few years full time and can get a letter from your boss stating that fact then you may be able to challenge the exam. there are alot more hoops you have to jump through with the ministry when you try and challenge as they look into whether or not you have the knowledge that a person doing the apprenticeship would have. and rightly so.
