curious if anyone can come up with a clause or requirement that demands that a gas range in a residential home is required to be vented directly to outdoors... nothing in the section under gas ranges other than clearances and such. there is a section in venting 8.9.1 of the 2005 code ( new book is in the van) it states that every appliance shall be connected to either an effective chimney or a vent, except
radiant heaters,
appliances that are approved for use without a vent
etc.
as a rule always read the manufacturer instructions regarding install, anyone ran into this issue?
I know that the DA domestic appliance tech can work on unvented appliances up to 75 000 btuh i believe, being that ranges are domestic appliances this would be a shot in the dark.
advise please
scarey
It depends on what the manufacturer of the range and range hood state in their manuals. There are no gas codes that I know of that enforce the use of range hoods. Even if a range hood was installed, only the client can decide if they want to turn it on.
