Title: Flair by Venmar HRV 3055 Compact ~ motor runs on high speed
Post by: tjlongeway on November 07, 2013, 04:23:25 PM
Motor of unit runs constantly, requires circuit board replacement.

Motor is running on  high speed.

Is it possible to disconnect a wire so as motor runs on slow speed.

The installation manual staes low speed is red wire.

The wires are red / yellow / green / black.

Have been operating  unit by pluging in and unpluging from receptacle.

Sincerely,

T.J.

I'd make sure the damper opens on the "FRESH AIR FROM OUTSIDE" port, otherwise the HRV may not be exchanging air.

I think the black, red, yellow and green wires you see are the control wires and won't really help us.  You need to locate the wires that connect the fan motor to the control board.  The grey wire is the neutral, the orange wire is high speed and the red wire is low speed.  The orange high speed wire should connect to the molex connector #6 and the red low speed wire should connect to the molex connector #4, on the control board.

I suppose you could try to remove and reverse the wires in the molex connector, or simply cut them at the motor and reverse and marrette the wires.  I would unplug the unit and cut the orange and red wires feeding the fan.  Connect the orange wire coming from the board to the red wire feeding the motor and connect the red wire from the control board to the orange wire feeding the fan motor.

I think there is only 1 motor in that model.

Have you tried removing the control wires from the HRV to see if the motor continues to run?

Yes I have removed the control wires ( red yellow green black )from the board connector and motor still runs.
The damper opens on fresh air port.

Would you think getting new circuit board would correct problem, it is $226. inc. tax

Venmar / Vanee tech support is very good.  I would call them.

1 (800) 567-3855

The control board would be my guess.

The control board is $157 here,

I had called venmar in regards to control board for hrv 3055 compact std., serial # G-002304,

they said the control board is part # 01659, not # 13038.

I downloaded installation manual 04435 rev. A and it states same number as you.

the boards look the same ,

could it be just different part numbers, eh ?

thanks very much for your reply and assistance.

sincerely,
t.j.
