Title: Air max 50
Post by: harshal on September 02, 2014, 10:01:50 AM
Came across Max 50 air handler with the Lennox condenser.Found issue with the txv valve.I found low suction 85 and high 275 psi for 410 unit.that would give me 50 superheat and 10 subcool.so is it best to replace the coil with the fixed orifice or to replace with the same kind of the txv slab coil.I always prefer metering device over txv in the residential unit.
Any thoughts?
The unit was frozen when I went there.

The slab coil with orifice would be cheaper than the slab coil with TXV but either would work.

You can replace the TXV on those coils.

Are you sure it's not just undercharged?

Reading we're like these
Suction 85/discharge 275
Superheat 50
Subcooling 10
I think it's issue with txv
Than the undercharge
I called airmax they say only txv coil available
Any other source to get the fixed orifice slab coil
The condeser is 1.5 ton unit

If it's the MA24-50R410A coil you could order just the TXV assembly from Noble Trade.

Goodman sells a slab coil with orifice, part #CSCF1824N6.
