Title: Invitation for testing with Local 787

I received an invitation to write the entry exam to become a first year apprentice. The requirements said only bring #2 pencils, no calculators. How would one study for it? "There will be two tests; a two-hour Math & Science test and a two-hour Mechanical Aptitude test" There will be a lot of content, to write is a total fee of $280. I want to be prepared.

Hey i did the last test in April, They email you saying that you dont need to study because they want to see what you know. The mechanical aptitude test is fairly easy but there are a lot of questions to get through, no need to study though. The math and science test is extremely difficult (at least i found it to be) Review adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals and fractions. Also Pythagorean theorem and electrical circuits (calculating resistance). Im not sure if they alternate tests but those would be good to review. Good luck!

How did you guys go about getting invited to a testing with the refrigeration union anyway? I've been in the field for a year, got laid off, went to school for a year before I got the job and now am in a position of no man's land in that I don't have my G2, but want to get another job in the field. Perhaps you could shed some light as to how I could try to get into the union myself. At the end of the day, I want to further my knowledge in the industry to get to design or controls.

Hey! so how did you do? was it relatively simple arithmetic, triginometry, etc. like ferdie said?
