Title: Changing a TXV with an equalizer line brazed into the pipe
Post by: Sergroum on July 21, 2015, 11:36:41 PM
Heya.

Well, the subject basically says it all. I need to change a TXV on a roof top unit. Instead of having a port for the equalizer line, it is simply brazed into the pipe. Removing it is no problem, but I'm a little worried on installing a new one in. Would I be able to do it with an acetylene turbo torch? Or would it melt the tiny equalizer line copper? Is it possible? Or would I need an oxy-acetylene torch for precision?

Instead I would cut the equilizer line and weld it.it will be easy to weld equilizer line than the port.I did it on some a coils.worked for me.

Yeah. It worked out. My worry was that brazing so close to equalizer line would melt or malform the tubing, but it worked out just fine. Never done that one before, but nothing special about it.
