Title: your Valuable suggestion needed (Struggle in work, and Colleges to pick)
Post by: allthebest on August 03, 2015, 10:01:12 AM
hi there

im 2 yrs in canada now, working for a bank, full time job.
not satisfied cos of stress and low salary.

To increase my in-hand salary of $ 2500 pm to $3500 it will take 4 yrs.

so, started looking for promising opportunities, and becoming a Technician in HVAC looks really good. (real scenario I ask you to tell)

I am good in working with tools, used to supervise mechanics in machine repairs, gear changes, machine installation, and
also used to try my hand on tools, here and there, at the factory I worked in India.

To get a feel of HVAC work, on the side, I started working as a helper to a HVAC technician.
And I believe I can handle the work (haven't tried in winters though).

Tried my hand on Drywall Saw, drilling machines, cutters, etc.
Looks ok to me.

Im in my late 30s, and my only goal is to build a sound career. Please share your opinions about HVAC in Mississauga (GTA) .

Request all experienced technicians and recent licence holders to share experiences.
about the struggle in initial years.

another ques:  from standpoint of getting better hands- on and 'knowledge based' program
which one to pick-------HI MARK (30 kms) or Stanford (10 Kms) from my north mississauga residence.

I'll really appreciate all your suggestions and Thanks for your precious time.

you say you're not satisfied cause of stress and a low salary, do you mean stress of not having enough money? Cause this field of work is definitely not stress-free. There's a good chunk of liability on your back, and more then enough people willing to also stab you in the back :)

yaa, stress of getting  more and more clients to the bank,
continuously pleasing everybody to buy banking products,
if you are running behind targets the manager is not letting you stay comfortable,
and of course
the low salary, and maximum level I can reach in 5-10 yrs will be $4000 pm.

and i feel better somehow when I am at an hvac site, helping the technician, though it is physically demanding.
