Title: Brazing Certificate
Post by: steelseries on August 03, 2015, 01:56:01 PM
Can anyone shed some light on this 'brazing' certificate? I came across a job application that stated a brazing certificate would be an asset and was wondering more about it. I believe someone in the forum mentioned TSSA wanted them to have a brazing certificate and it costed them a lot of money ($5000?) and they got tested on their technique on several different sized pipes.

The TSSA has a Welding / Brazing section here,

https://www.tssa.org/regulated/boilers/weldingandbrazing.aspx

Read their Welding / Brazing FAQ here,

There are some exemptions regarding brazing.

Download the Boilers and Pressure Vessels Director's Order BPV-07-01 - Here (http://www.hvactechgroup.com/files/BPV-07-01.pdf)

QuoteNotwithstanding subsection 2.(2)(i) of Ontario Regulation 220/01 (Boilers and Pressure Vessels), the regulation does not apply to refrigeration piping that has a capacity of three tons (11 kW) or less of refrigeration or a capacity of five tons (18 kW) or less of refrigeration in an air conditioning system.

WTF is wedling? Is that something new? Is this a $5000 course I need to take?

That must have been created by the same person who spelt my name wrong on my tssa license. A very simple name, too.
