Centennial College runs a 2 year Co-op Diploma Apprenticeship program for the 313A trade. The program title is: Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic - Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician. The students are in class for 2 semesters (September - end of April) and then have 8 months to get as much hands-on work experience as possible in their trade returning to school to school in January for 2 more semesters to complete the 3rd level of their Theoretical Training and their Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning diploma . In semesters 1 & 2 the students complete their Level 1 & 2 of the Theoretical Training for the 313A trade so they have that completed before they go and work for the 8 months. Before their paid Co-op work experience they also have their ODP Certification, IPEX S636 Gas Venting Training and their Working at Heights Training completed. Some of the students will also write their TSSA Gas 3 technician certification in late May or June.
Many of the students have their own vehicle to use for work and most have a valid Driver's License. They have "hands-on" experience from working in our labs here at Centennial and some students do have some industry work experience.
We have students who are available to start working immediately for 8 months. You will be eligible for all Apprenticeship Grants and Tax Credits from the government if you Register your student as an Apprentice.
