I need some help ,I can't find anything in the code book but I'm sure it's wrong . I was doing a propane inspection and the second stage regulator on the house was about 3' from a window .They extended the regulator vent out the bottom about 18"then a 90 and then about 10 ' horizontally another 90 vertical back up 24" another 90 with a 4' nipple and another 90 down .
O -REG very crude but this is my diagram .Thanks

As per Table 5.2 a propane regulator only needs a 3' clearance from a building opening. Maybe there's a source of ignition or mechanical air intake close by, in which case a 10' clearance is required.
As long as Clause 5.5.11 is followed the arrangement of the regulator vent extension should not be an issue.
QuoteClause 5.5.11
For propane applications, a regulator vent, line relief device, or hydrostatic relief device discharging vertically upward shall be provided with a loose-fitting rain cap. When discharging downward, it shall be provided with a protective screen.
Thank you for the quick reply , my concern was the drop and then the rise creating a trap but I'm glad I was wrong ,now I don't have to change it .
There is a fitting used when going vertical from the reg that acts as a vent/drain for any moisture. Otherwise any moisture will become trapped in the vent line. I'll post a picture of one I have in my truck.
How about clause 5.5.6 in the B149.1-10? or 5.8.2 in the B149.2-10? 5.8.2 sounds like the type of requirement Attavior is talking about.
QuoteHow about clause 5.5.6 in the B149.1-10? or 5.8.2 in the B149.2-10? 5.8.2 sounds like the type of requirement Attavior is talking about.
QuoteClause 5.5.6 - The outdoor vent termination of regulators and line relief devices shall be equipped with a means to prevent the entry of water, insects, or foreign material.
I quoted Clause 5.5.11 as it pertains to propane.
QuoteClause 5.8.2 - A regulator vent, line relief device, or hydrostatic relief valve discharging vertically upwards shall be provided with a loose-fitting rain cap. When discharging downwards, it shall be provided with a protective screen.
The B149.2-10 Clause 5.8.2 is the same as the B149.1-10 Clause 5.5.11.
I completely missed the quote where you mentioned 5.5.11 :nutz:
