Title: 6.17.4
Post by: Attavior on June 03, 2017, 08:14:08 AM
Is a duplex with a multi meter manifold with underground kits to each separate home still requiring this? . I always thought that this code was for buildings with multiple meters running directly through it. Is each separate home considered a separate building even though they are attached?

6.17.4
Every piping or tubing system that enters a building that has two or more gas meters shall be
permanently identified with the room number, apartment number, or the area of the building it serves.

That code exists to shut off or service gas to a particular location without confusion. I'm to the understanding a duplex is considered to be one building. If it's not overly obvious what gas meter goes to where, I would imagine that code would definitely apply.

Makes sense to me.  My thought of each residence being a individual building is my source of questioning.  Do you see this enforced much by the inspectors in your area.  We have just one that dings us on new build a.
