Title: Approved propane sealant
Post by: Wilsh27 on August 05, 2017, 12:32:27 PM
I work at skyjack and assemble the propane component for the system. I noticed that the sealant that we use  says nothing about propane on it or being approved for any kind of gas. I was wondering if that would be an infraction of the propane code ?

It must have CAN/ULC-S642 certification.

QuoteClause 6.9.6 - When a jointing sealant is used, it shall be certified to CAN/ULC-S642 and shall be applied to the male threads of a metal pipe. Tape shall be stretched and applied in a clockwise direction, with a 50% overlap leaving the first two starter threads bare.

That's what I thought. I told the engineers but they didn't seem to care. They said the supplier said it was ok to use and it was on them if anything happens lol. Due diligence right
