Title: Lifebreath HRV not drawing in fresh air
Post by: JWS on November 18, 2017, 10:01:21 PM
Hello,

Looking for some help with a Lifebreath HRV.  It's a brand new HRV in a new house we just built.
I have a digital wall control (DXPL02).  I have it set to ventilate,  which should be full time all the time.  However, the other day I was outside working near the intake and exhaust hoods and noticed it wasn't drawing In fresh air or exhausting to outside?    The unit is running.  The grills in the washrooms will hold a paper towel against it so I know it's drawing properly.   I tried switching the control to recirculate to see if something was wired wrong but nothing changes?   Any ideas what could be the problem?

Thank you.

check to see if the damper inside the unit is opening up.  Can you hear the HRV fan running?

So I opened up the door and noticed the damper for the F/A was closed shut.
Both fans were running.  Would this be a wiring/control problem or a bad motor on the damper?
Any way to trouble shoot this?

Likely a bad motor.  It could just be "sticky". You could try to help it open manually and see it starts working, otherwise you'll have to diagnose the damper motor or assembly.
