Title: HVAC & Smart Thermostats
Post by: Ali9999 on December 30, 2018, 11:04:03 AM
Hi there! I have a VanEE HVAC (200H) and Lennox furnace and am looking into a smart thermostat. Upstairs in the main hall I have 2 controls, a Honeywell thermostat and the VannEE HVAC control panel. Will a Smart Thermostat replace just the thermostat or the HVAC control as well? If so, which smart thermostats supports both? (i'm Looking at the Ecobee or NES but am totally open to suggestions).

Thanks!

The NEST won't control an HRV but the Ecobee 3 or 4 will.  Don't get the Ecobee 3 lite as it won't control an HRV.

Thanks! Does that mean I can replace both controls with an Ecobee 3 or 4 or do I need to get 2, one for the HRV and another for the thermostat?

You only need one Ecobee 3 or 4 thermostat.  The Ecobee 3 or 4 will control the furnace, AC and HRV.  You will just have to fish over 2 wires that are connected to the B and G terminals on the HRV control, and connect them to the 2 ACC terminals on the Ecobee.

Update.  I know for sure connecting the Vanee 65H B and G to the Ecobee ACC terminals will work but apparently we should use the OL and OC HRV terminals instead of the B and G.

I was calling to ask about the new V150H75 models because they now use 4 wires for the main control, C, R, G and GF.  Apparently we can use the OVR and 12V HRV terminals and connect them to the Ecobee ACC terminals.
