Title: Australian moving to toronto hvac question.
Post by: Alexsumps on April 14, 2019, 04:03:38 AM
Hey all, I have a question. Im currently going through an apprenticeship here in Australia, and over here its a 3-4 year apprenticeship with 4 6ish weeks blocks at tafe (college) learning all the technical stuff. Once that is all completed you can be signed off as a tradesman. My question is in Ontario is it the same process? I have read that there is a 2 year college course like a pre requisite before doing an apprenticeship? Or do i just do an apprenticeship and then become qualified? Any help would be much appreciated,  i just dont wanna come over and not be prepared.

Thanks alot

You can look into the OCOT's Trade Equivalency Assessment (https://www.collegeoftrades.ca/trade-assessment) process.

Look at the section named, Experienced Workers from Within and Outside of Ontario.
