What you guys do in air conditioning install in the new homes?
Do u run the wire to the panel and call the electrician to hook up the breaker to the panel?or what is the scope of the 313 d license?
A 313A or D can install the wiring and breaker into the panel. The electrician has to install the furnace wiring and breaker into the panel. A G1, 2 or 3 cannot install it.
Any reference to the scope of the work that it can be done?
Ontario Regulation 75/05 was revoked and replaced with the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act.
You can download the OCOT Apprenticeship Training Standard Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic – Branch 2 - Here (http://www.hvactechgroup.com/files/OCOT313D.pdf)
It seems to be worded the same as O. Reg 75/05. Section 3(1) says we can install the system, which would include all wiring.
Quote3. (1) The performance of any of the following functions constitutes work that is part of the certified trade:
2. Install and start up the system and verify the operation and function of the system.
Section 3(3) limits a 313D to wiring a single phase 240V system up to 5 tons in size.
Quote(3) A person who holds a certificate of qualification as a residential air conditioning systems mechanic, and any other person authorized under the Act to work as a residential air conditioning systems mechanic, may perform the functions described in subsection (I) only with respect to residential air conditioning systems that meet the following requirements:
1. The system shall be installed as an independent unit in a residential family dwelling.
2. The system shall operate at no more than 240 volts single-phase power with a maximum branch circuit capacity of 60 amps, a maximum cooling capacity of 60,000 British thermal units per hour and a saturated suction temperature above 2 degrees Celsius (35 degrees Fahrenheit) in the cooling cycle.
An ESA permit would be required anytime you install an air conditioner. You should look at joining the ESA Authorized Contractor Program (http://www.esasafe.com/contractors/authorized-contractor-program/membership-application-and-declaration) as you will pay much less for a permit.
