Title: T&P relief valve replacement
Post by: Samjohn on April 29, 2020, 04:32:45 PM
Hi,
Is there a code reference to when a T&P relief device needs to be changed out. I recall every 3 years?
Not sure if this was on a HWT or Boiler or both.

Thanks.

Nope. Nothing like that exists.

Maybe in plumbing code?

The only thing I've ever read came from an installation manual and it said to replace the T&P valve if it's leaking.  No expiry dates otherwise.

I found out through my co-workers plumbing friend that it is a plumbing code and only for commercial/industrial Boilers. He said it was every 5 yrs.
Unfortunately he didn't give me a code reference  :-\

Ask for a code. That'd be in the gas code if it has to do with boilers/water heaters and it's not there.

I even checked 7.6.1.12 of the building code and nothing like that.

So this is what he sent me, (see attachment): TSSA code adoption page 13, 1.37 table 5.
