One is the heating side (G2) and the other is comfort cooling or refrigeration (313d for residential cooling or 313a for commercial).

Technically, the 313d is not refrigeration. It's just air conditioning for residential up to a maximum size of 5 tons. The 313A is your air conditioning up to all sizes, and including refrigeration systems.

And a 313A license is instant access to a decent living wage. Same cannot be expected with a G2.

What I didn't even know about my own license for quite a while was a normal residential unit under 5 tons in a business requires a 313a license.
