Hi there,
I have a one-year-old RNC 155. Due to city building code requirements, the installer set up the unit as 24/7 standby with ventilation. There is only one on/off switch for manl power. On the terminal block, there are two jumpers. between On and low, and on and red. I have this setting for a year. It is very quiet. The only problem is when we cook food with strong smell on one level, the smells went into the bedroom level. Also, during the cool season, when the temperature drops below 0, we cannot heat the house properly. Doesn't matter how much we push up the thermostat, we can never reach over 20-degree celsius. I think this is because 1. our fan is on low standby mode, so we can't get ride of the kitchen smell. 2. our system in 24/7 ventilation mode, so cooler air keep entering.
My soltuion to these problems is to add a main control to the terminal block. I picked the 99-DXPL02. I follow the instruction, removed both jumpers, and connect the red, green, yellow wires. When I turn on the unit. I put it on fan 0, 20/40 ventilation, and off for the high-speed button. But I still hear the fan running. In fact, doesn't matter which fan speed I choose, the fan just keeps running at a constant speed (not sure high or low). Can anyone help? What did I do wrong?
I would really like to set the fan to be 0 (standby) with 20/40 ventilation.
Thank you in advance.
Is it the furnace fan you keep hearing? Likely the HRV is interlocked with the furnace and anytime the HRV starts the furnace fan is energized by G which may enable a low speed fan setting.
Is this a dedicated HRV and you don't have separate bath fans or kitchen range hood?
There should be a way to increase your continuous fan speed which in turn would increase the furnace fan speed when the HRV is running.
Anytime your furnace heats or cools it should increase the fan speed automatically. I wonder if something is not setup properly in the furnace. it almost sounds like you're stuck on low stage heating.
I got it. I stopped the dehumidify function and got back the control for fan speed! Thank you.
So, can I set 20/40 mode with fan speed 1? I understand my RNC 155 doesn't have a circulation function. It's gonna be 20 mins in low fan speed and 40 mins stop.
