Current Setup:
HRV: Venmar Constructo 1.5ES (https://www.venmar.ca/81-air-exchangers-constructo-1-5-es-hrv.html)
HRV Controller: Venmar Constructo wall controller (https://www.venmar.ca/219-accessories-constructo-wall-control.html)
I had installed the ecobee and it said it needs the G wire from the furnace before I can use the Y1.
I did run the C wire from my furnace to the thermostat.
So, digging further, it seems my current setup has HRV interlocked with my furnace.
As per my understanding the current wiring diagram is as shown below
But, as per the installation diagrams at https://www.venmar.ca/DATA/DOCUMENT/1476_4_en~v~user-guide.pdf Page#13, only G and B terminals should be connected..
However, I have an extra R terminal connected.
How should I connect the ecobee smart thermostat with my furnace and HRV, so that it works both as thermostat and HRV controller?
Can I remove the R wire from HRV control and the HRV unit?
Thanks in advance.
Hey tantu07, did you ever receive a response on this? I am in the same boat here and just playing it by ear. My wiring is a little different as I needed to utilize the PEK. Main controller (https://www.venmar.ca/221-accessories-simple-touch-constructo-wall-control.html) was bypassed directly into the Ecobee Aux lines. I first measured each wire pair to find which were energizing while the HRV was running. Those went into the ACC+/ACC- on the Ecobee.
I don't think mine is setup perfectly as the HRV seems to run all the time, but it has been running without issue for a month. I would assume if the outdoor temp is high the HRV should remain off unless air quality is becoming an issue.
You don't need R. Connecting the Ecobee ACC terminals to the HRV B and G terminals will work, but Vanee will say to use the OL and OC terminals instead.
