Hello,
I am trying to DIY a radon migration system(RMS). One of the requirements for RMS is as follows: the clearance of the outlet of a radon migration system is 2-3 meters away from a "mechanical air supply inlet". To my understanding, the high efficiency furnace intake pipe for combustion is not a mechanical air supply inlet. Based on TSSA 2000, S.O. 2000, c. 16, Ontario Regulation 223/01, page 6 table 5, a mechanical air intake is an opening that is dedicated to bring in larger volumes of outside air to replace the air that is being exhausted from a structure (I.e., HRV). Is my understanding correct?
If this is correct, are there any restrictions on the distance between an exhaust like radon system to the air intake of a high efficiency furnace? I see there was a discussion in the forum in 2014 on the distance between central vac exhaust and furnace intake but nothing on radon exhaust.
TIA for any help and suggestions.
if your installation literature only specifies mechanical air intake as a clearance then that is all you need to take into account for your install. There is nothing in the b149 or any installation manual that makes any reference to radon exhaust. Follow the installation instructions or call the manufacturer for further reference.
