Title: HVAC won’t shut off
Post by: mrasg1 on June 13, 2022, 04:41:18 PM
It's 88 degrees in nj today. Turned my ac on with room temp at 78 and set temp at 72. 72 now but won't shut off yet..it eventually shuts off. And if I put temp at 73 it'll shut off. How can I tell if it's bad capacitor or bad thermostat sensor for example?
freon is good.Air cold out of vents

Thanks!

Is it the outdoor unit that keeps running or the fan inside?

What type of thermostat do you have and is it on a scheduled program?  It may be some type of adaptive technology that overshoots the setpoint.

Or you have bad batteries in the thermostat that need to be replaced
