Title: Is there a system where the thermostat is not wired to the wall
Post by: Graebeard on November 17, 2022, 01:16:48 AM
I have a thermostat in my house that I want moved to a different room but don't want to move the wires in the walls. So, is there a system out there that consists of a controller wired directly to my HVAC system and communicates via wifi with a battery operated (i.e. unwired) thermostat?

My search on the 'net talks about all these wonderful 'wireless' thermostats that do everything but darn your socks from across the world, BUT, are connected with 4 or 5 wires through the wall. Bah Humbug I say that.

Any suggestions or assistance will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

The Honeywell YTH6320R1001 Wireless Focuspro Thermostat Kit will do what you want.  If you want to control it with a smart phone you need to buy the Redlink gateway as well, but you don't need this for the wireless thermostat hookup.

A cheaper option would be to wire an Ecobee at the furnace and then place the wireless sensors around the house.
