My HVAC is being installed and I have asked the HVAC folks to install a sensor (Thermostat Honeywell T775B2032) to measure ambient in the inlet which would enable/disable the air freshener module from opening the damper. I am thinking that it appears kind of foolish to pull 40 degree air during the cold season when I'm trying to heat the house to 74. It seems this fresh air would keep telling the thermostat to start a heat cycle. Same goes for cooling season when the fresh air system pulls in 100 degree outside air creating the same thermostat battle except running the A/C cycle. My thinking is to set the range of the sensor setup to 50-90 all year round to minimize the "thermostat battle". Thoughts? Thanks in advance
Curious as to what you are referring to as the air freshener module? Is this an HRV or ERV? If that is the case, they are meant to often run all year round, not only do these appliances provide fresh air, but they provide dehumidification. The ventilation load of these appliances with respect to Btu's is minuscule and factored into the heat loss/heat gain load of your furnace. Ive never seen a thermostat battle as you have referred to as a result of this. The Honeywell T775B2032 is often a commercial product, I'm curious what this "HVAC" system is.
