Title: 22 Year Old Goodman Evap Coil
Post by: robmaxfli on June 03, 2023, 01:12:31 PM
Hello, I have never cleaned the Evap Coil in my 21 years of living with my AC unit and thought it would be a good time to do it. So I took off the cover to see the Evap - there is a refrigerant line blocking the bottom of the access panel - so even if I took the screws out of the access panel there is no room to shimmy it out. Does this one have to have the lines cut so it can be removed and cleaned?
Its a Goodman model: U-42 which I cannot find a manual for.
thanks

If you click "Reply" and scroll down there will be "Attachments And Other Options".  Click that and you can upload a picture.

Usually the best way to access a coil is from the back.  You can remove the plate easily there and access the underside of the coil.

It's thin enough gauge you can just bend the top down and wiggle it out.

Sometimes there's enough duct work between the furnace and coil you can access the underside of the coil through there.
