Hi hoping to get some help.Live in Winnipeg MB live in a 1500 square footcabover with valuted ceilings house built in 2003.A distributor  say for that house 2.5 ton AC  is recommened and a installer is saying 2.5 is too big 2 ton is needed and could have issuies with 2.5 ton.Any advice?Thanks in advance

In Ottawa I would be considering a 1.5 ton, but without a heat gain calculation everyone is just guessing. 

Unless it's a two-stage air conditioner I probably wouldn't consider the 2.5 ton. 

It's better to undersize the air conditioner and have it run longer and remove humidity so you feel comfortable at a higher temperature versus an oversized air conditioner that will cool the home and shut off quickly without removing humidity, making you feel cold and damp.

Like Admin said, I would likely go with a 1.5 ton.  2 ton max.
