Title: Condenser Replacement Options
Post by: bluebird on August 13, 2024, 08:49:50 AM
My current system:

Condenser: RA1342AJ1NA
Coil: RCF4821STAMCA

I probably need to replace the condenser due to compressor issues.

By looking at the AHRI directory, it seems like all the matches for the coil are discontinued.

1. Would it make more sense to replace the indoor coil as well, or is it not needed if it's operating well?

2. Would it be better to match the new condenser tonnage to the indoor coil (currently, it's a 3.5-ton condenser and 4-ton indoor coil with TXV)?

3. Can a condenser with a two-stage or variable-speed compressor work with my existing coil and modulate the speed?

4. What, in general, is important to look for in a suggested condenser replacement to ensure it's a good match for the existing indoor coil?
