Title: Ruud Silhoutte firing issue.
Post by: Lordlindsey on October 04, 2008, 05:03:38 PM
I had to repair the furnace blower brackets. They broke.

During this repair I accidentally pulled the flame sensor wire from it's home. I cannot figure out where it goes!
FS is not listed in the wiring diagram, nor is RS.

THEN...I noticed a sticker on the duct work that says 'Notice a remote flame sensor has been installed on your furnace. refer to wiring connection label 90-23652-01 located near your control board.'
Well, it's nowhere to be found.

Where does this connect?
Or...where do they typically connect to?

I'm told the usually connect to one of three locations. (RS, FS, or Neutral on the igniter)

I connected it to the white wire on the connector because it looked like it belong there.  There was wire nut there.
Still have the same issue of firing up for only 6 seconds then shutting off.

Where should I go from here.
Funds are limited.

Make sure the flame rod isin't touching anything.  Sounds like you're still getting flame failure, meaning the module isin't getting a signal from the sensor.  I would try cleaning the flame rod with some steel wool.

Cleaned with Steel wool.  Looks good.
Still have the same issue.

This is driving me nuts and I'm sure it's something simple.

Anyone have a schematic on how the external flame sensors are added to this system?

Can you post a pic of the module?

Some guys reattached it to one side of the hsi but it was supposed to go into the molex connector. Not sure which # tho. Check the other side of the molex it should be the same colour of orange I believe

If you are looking were to connect the flame sensor to the board it goes to FS. If you are lookijng to connect the rod it either goes in the pilot flame or in the flame on the farthest burner from the ignitor, in either case it has to be in the flame and like the admin said not touching anything. This device gets it's signal through the fire to ground.
Hope this was helpfull.
