Clause 6.7.2(a) - Piping or tubing shall not be installed in a stairwell other than a stairwell within a dwelling unit unless it is totally enclosed by a chase consisting of material that has the same fire-resistance rating as that required for the stairwell.

Dwelling unit - A housekeeping unit used or intended to be used as a domicile by one or more persons, and usually containing cooking, eating, living, sleeping, and sanitary facilities.
