Title: Trianning courses
Post by: keeptheheatup on March 15, 2010, 11:24:01 AM
I'm looking for a good training course on trouble shooting furnaces, fireplaces , pool heaters or A/C's. The company I work for isn't a dealer , so it makes it really hard to get signed up for any courses. Do any of you know any good courses or training seminars to take. Or any online training.
thanks for you time.

In Ontario, you would start by getting the Gas Technician 3 certificate.  Then after 4000 hrs of work experience you could challenge the Gas Technician 2.

Here are some Colleges that offer the courses.

Algonquin College

Ottawa, Ontario K2G 1V8  Lorne Lowry

Brydon Industrial Training Services (BITS)

Also www.himark.ca offers part time training as well.

Thanks Admin

I have my G2 , I'm just looking on courses to better my skills. I've tried to sign up for Carrier , York and other companies training seminars. But when your not a  dealer they won't let you sign up. I'm just searching to see if there's anything else out there that would be worth while taking. Even if you know of any good books on troubleshooting.

HRAI and RSES both have courses.
You don't have to be a member, but it wouldn't hurt if you were.

I've taken some courses in the US. Power performing technician and some good sales courses.
They were hosted by www.airtime500.com/.

I believe you can attend courses in the Toronto area.

It was Success Academy that hosted the courses I took.  The technician that helped teach the Selling Technician course sold 2.6 million dollars of residential HVAC in one year.
