Title: CAN/CSA-B149.1-05 Gas Code Trumps Electrical Code of Canada Part I
Post by: Admin on July 11, 2010, 10:58:43 AM
The ESA and Electrical Code of Canada Part I enforce a code that requires 1 meter (3' 3") clearance from the outside condensing unit to the regulator vent on a gas meter.  Clause 5.5.9 in the CAN/CSA-B149.1-05 states only 3' is required.  Clause 4.1.2 in the CAN/CSA-B149.1-05 states;

Quote"When specification or document referenced in Clause 2 contains a requirement that conflicts with a requirement in this Code, the requirement in this Code shall govern."

Section 2 contains the C22.1-02 Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.  TSSA has confirmed that the CAN/CSA-B149.1-05 gas code shall govern and does trump the Electrical Code of Canada Part I, in this case.

Apparently TSSA will release a Code Adoption Document to correct the imperial to metric conversions found in the B149.1-05.
