Title: Hours Regarding 313D....?
Post by: OntTradesmen on September 19, 2010, 06:06:31 AM
I'm hoping to be able to challenge my 313d soon, and I understand that its 4500 hours needed before i can do so.
I am a Licensed Plumber and Gas Tech 2 , but I haven't been working on A/C much, and my boss is Master Plumber and Gas tech 1, will he be able to sign off saying that I'm ok to write, or do I need to work under a 313A or D to sign me off?

Thanks for the help answering the question

:)

Only a 313 certificate holder can sign you up as an apprentice.

QuoteYou need  a licensed mechanic to sign you up as an apprentice, and then write off your 4500 hrs and challenge the exam for $100.  You don't need to signup as an apprentice and then work 4500hrs.  The licensed mechanic can write off hours that you worked on A/C equipment prior to becoming an apprentice.

You have to call the Ministry to get the proper paperwork, and to book the exam.  The Ottawa office phone number is 613-731-7100.  Just tell them you need a residential air conditioning mechanic supervisor's assessment of skill sets document, and you need the competency analysis profile form, to be filled out by your employer.
