Post by: etobicoke on February 22, 2013, 08:25:53 AM
I went on a call where Enbridge tec red tagged for nested fittings. What I saw was a shut off valve, union then a tee feeding water tank and furnace.Nothing is concealed.

QuoteClause 6.9.10 - A bushing shall be made of
(a) steel for a change in one pipe size; or
(b) steel or malleable iron for a change of two or more pipe sizes.

QuoteClause 6.14.2 - Bushings shall not be nested.

The term nested means using more than one bushing.  For example you can use a bushing to reduce from 1" to 3/4" but you can't connect a second bushing to it to reduce from 3/4" to 1/2".  You must use one bushing to go from 1" to 1/2".

Usually, if a bushing is used, you will see it installed in the tee.  If there is no bushing then the warning tag is invalid.

How many days did Enbridge give on their non immediate warning tag?  In Ottawa they will now only give a maximum of 35 days.
