Title: Oil tanks
Post by: Hgye on July 03, 2018, 06:28:42 PM
Does the outlet of an oil tank need to be 1.25" until it gets into the house?  Most tanks have 1/2" copper coming out of the tank then into the house.  Another tech told me it needs to be 1.25", and I would like to confirm it.

For outdoor tanks that are a gravity system you need to pipe into the house in 1 1/4" black iron with swing joint or 1" stainless steel connector.

Or top draw, with a 5 port oil tank. Fill, vent, suction line, gauge, and the front port is for annual water testing. Most guys go top draw wth a tiger loop at the burner. The biggest pain is the 6" thick poured cement pad with rebar. Its best to get it into the basement.

I see Wolseley still sell double bottom Granby Ecogard tanks with 1/2" outlets.  So these tanks cannot be installed outdoors anymore?
