Title: Trane XV95 furnace
Post by: edmonton88 on September 20, 2009, 11:24:53 AM
I am thinking to replace my 22 years old furnace with the high effiency one, and was quoted with the Trane XV95 80,000BTU (no exact model stated) for my 1750 sq ft, 4-level split house. Is the furnace size adequate or too big? Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Split levels can be tricky, but given the sq ft that size furnace sounds like a good fit.  The two stage operation will solve any issues of it being oversized.  What was the BTU input and output of the old furnace?

You could ask the contractor for a heat loss calculation.
