Found a facility with gas piping all needing to be repainted and customer wants t o know if they can use their painting contractor to paint the gas piping. Nothing is being disconnected so I personally don't see a problem with it. Thoughts. They want to save money instead of our rate which is understandable

Personally, I don't see any reason that having another contractor paint the natural gas lines would be an issue.
While in the strictest interpretation of the code, you could argue that as the rules for how to mark gas piping a covered by B149 that you would need to be licensed to perform the work. However I doubt any inspector would hassle you over who painted the piping, as long as the work is inspected and signed off by a properly licensed technician in the end.
