Hey group. Looking for suggestions on how to transition from residential to commercial HVAC.
Anyone who has done it, I'll appreciate you sharing your experience and tips.
Where to start, what to learn, which companies are more likely to hire (in GTA); would joining local union help in job search ?
Thanks!

1. find a company that does commercial, and will hire you, then contact skilledtradesontario.ca to upgrade to 313A.
2. your company may want you to get G1 gas license, Himark.ca

If you want to go the union route, they have 2 intakes per year and it's competitive, orac.ca/apprentice/

Well you need to come to an agreement with your employer for signing up to be a 313A and then the sponsor at the company would do the paperwork with getting you going with the skilled trades as an apprentice. The ratio has to be in place for an available opening, which is why most will not sign you up until you've demonstrated some competency and they feel you can do well.

Start by getting certified in commercial HVAC systems and gaining hands-on experience. Focus on learning building codes and automation. Joining a local union can boost job opportunities, especially with companies like Trane or Johnson Controls or heat pump repair in Sacramento company - https://alphamechanicals.com/heat-pump-replacement/ in GTA.
