Trane TayPlus v103A

Do I still need this Heat Pump Kit, Trane TayPlus v103A, originally installed in my oil furnace/heat pump system in 1993. It was a necessary Item using a bonnet thermostat to monitor an oil furnace.
Now I have a Trane XV95 2 stage natural gas furnace with a new Trane XL18i 2 stage cooling heat pump.
I think I can just wire the thermostat to the furnace and then to the heat pump.
