Hi, I need some assistance in finding the best match for an uncased A  coil for a Carrier 24aca418a0030010 which is 14 Seer TXV 1.5 ton unit. The original A coil was a CAPVU2414ACA but it is no longer available. I have been given the runaround which is probably related to available stock, and not necessarily the best match and I was two options:

1. N Coil CNPVU2414ACA - lower efficiency, but same size 2 ton coil?
2. A Coil CDP24E13P - higher efficiency but smaller 2 ton coil?
3. Or another better matched option and why?

Thank you

New Part# CNPVU2414ALA.

According to the AHRI database, the CDP coil does not match with that AC.  It's likely it will work, but you wouldn't qualify for the OPA rebate if you used the CDP coil.

https://www.ahridirectory.org/ahridirectory/pages/ac/defaultSearch.aspx

Type 24ACA418 in the outdoor unit model number window and type this in the indoor coil window to search the AHRI database, CNPV*1814AL* or CNPV*2414AL*

The AC is 1.5 ton but the coil is 2 ton.  There is no reason you can't use a 1.5 ton to save cost.  The CNPVU1814ALA.  Both the 1.5 and 2 ton coils will achieve 14 SEER with that AC.

Hi,

No rebate required, as it is a replacement coil and not a new install. I guess the two parts numbers were related to what is in stock, and the CDP 1.5-2.0 Ton coil is more efficient than the CNPV 2.0 ton coil to give a closer match to 14 seer as well as a closer match to size.

Either the CNPV 1.5 ton or 2 ton coils will give you 14 SEER with that AC.  If you're furnace has an ECM fan motor you'll likely achieve 15 SEER.

I'm not a huge fan of these coils though as I have seen many develop leaks.

If OPA rebates aren't a factor I would use a standard A coil instead.

these coils just leak in the worst spots, like admin said just put in an aspen.

I heard that the Carrier N Coil problems, and went ahead and ordered the CDP A Coil (made by ADP). Thanks.
