i tried looking in to the codebook to see if there was any requirements to run copper tubing along the house for bbq but i couldn't find anything.  i'm just wondering if there is  any height requirements from the ground. it'll be easier for me to run the gas line like 5 inches above the ground. if any of you have any idea please let me know.

There's not really any height rules. Done plenty off oddball gas line runs with copper outside for fireplaces, firepits and bbq's. Just make sure you're using at least 5/8" coated copper for a run that isn't overly long. Too many BBQ's are starved with lines too small. Don't use the copper clad straps. They rust outside like there's no tomorrow.

thanks a lot for the respond. i actually had more room to bring it up a bit more so i think it's better and safer  now :)
