Hello:
I am thinking on creating two heating zones in our home to make the far rooms more comfortable. My question is this: Before I decide on this, should I relocate my thermostat to a more central location and see if this would help the rooms I need to heat and cool? Thanks.

A properly designed HVAC system would have the thermostat in a proper central location that would allow it to come on and off and heat/cool all areas equally. If the stat has to be moved to make certain rooms more comfortable, it will only shift the problem into making the other areas uncomfortable.
It sounds like far rooms are lacking proper sized ductwork, or proper return air to flow correctly. Assuming you're talking about a ducted system.
