Hello everyone,

I have an issue with my carrier infinity system.  I am getting the error 44/41 communication with blower motor error.

I was told the blower motor/module had gone bad.  Ok so got a replacement motor/module,  also got a replacement wheel as the original wheel did not spin steady seemed to wobbly for me.

got the replacement in and installed.  The ac ran great for about 1 day and then stopped due to the same error.

I double checked all the wires and connections and restarted the system.  Ran just fine for about 4 hours and then the same error.

Per video's online it suggested perhaps the motor was fine but the board was bad.  the board showed the error code via the flashing button and the motor button was flashing indicating it was sending a signal.  The video showed how to check to make sure it was sending the signal right,  should have been around 12.5volts.   I tested it and showed almost 4 volts only then the board went dark.  no more lights coming from it period.

I got an ac tech out to diagnose the issue (won't say company name yet) but due to times I could do it had to pay for an after hour's non waivable service charge.  This tech did no real diagnosis and completely ignored what I told him.  He checked the high voltage to the motor which was 240volts,  but he did not check the other wire for the 12.5volts coming from the board or care that the board was not even indicating it was trying to send signal to the motor.

he said right away your motor and module is bad, told him it had just been replaced.  He said if I did not get it from carrier then its not going to work.  Not sure how where it was gotten from makes a difference.  If the motor is meant and designed for the unit and came out of one and refurbished then it should work.

he proceeded to give me a $2600 quote to replace the motor and then said I would be better off just getting a new unit and quoted me 9300 for a basic and 11400 for an upgraded basic model but no where does it say any real details about it.

I believe I was swindled out of a real diagnostic check, he did not really seem like he wanted to check anything else.  It was obvious the board is not doing anything its not lighting up not saying its sending a signal, you'd think that would be the place to start.

my question is the board is next to impossible to find when you can find them they are over a grand which is ridiculous for a printed circuit board and hard to spend the money on especially if I can not get make sure its the problem.

How does the board get its power how can I check that?

Perhaps power is not getting to the board and the board is fine.  This is where my problem is and why I had a tech to come out and diagnose the issue that failed.  Once I find the old module I am going to really look at it and see what test can be done to it as now I do not even think the original motor and module were bad.

ps Saw a video on something called QwikSwap V3 115/240 V Universal ECM Blower Motor Replacement Board for Furnace and Air Handlers, however it seems like its more to get around the ecm blower motor and using a much cheaper motor and that qwikswap acts like the module.   From its video on the website it appears the use of the control board is still needed, its like those wires go to it and the blower motor goes to it as well so it don't get around a bad motor board.
