Hi

I'm new here and read a lot of great information.

Was hoping someone could help with identifying an old Amana central air codenser at my home (see attached pics). The labels are faded and cannot read model #.
The reason I need to identfy is think it needs a new fan motor and looks like an easy job I can do. There is an electrical burning smell when fan is running. Is it possible to still get a motor for this old unit?

The old unit is still working and blowing cold. I know its old and not energy efficient but would like to get one more summer out of it. Wife I might downsize to over 55 community later this year.

It's big and measures 34"x45" and fan circle is 28" across.

Thanks for the help.

Those rating plates are the worst.  The only option would be to remove the motor and look at its rating plate.  It should show you the voltage and horsepower ratings.  Make sure to buy a new capacitor for the fan motor.  It's likely a dual capacitor for the compressor as well so you would buy one that is rated for that compressor and the new fan motor.

I would recommend finding a good place that sells motors. Then taking the entire fan off (you might have difficulty removing the blades) and bringing the whole thing to the motor place.

With some questions, they'll be able to get you a matching motor and might offer advice/tools to remove the fan blades.

Thank you for the replies. I will pull motor and before doing anything see if I can get the blades off shaft. Good to know I should be able to get a motor & capacitor for this old unit. What would be best place to find these parts since there is no motor places around me? Should I just google the specifications of motor & capacitor?

Not that it matters but any idea how old this unit is? We been in the house for 30 yrs. The house was built in the 1960's.

Thanks again
