Position Purpose: Reporting to the Manager of Facilities and Parks,
You will have extensive experience in troubleshooting and repairing commercial, institutional and residential HVAC and refrigeration
equipment, including locating and repairing refrigerant leaks; you are well equipped to conduct maintenance and repairs of mechanical equipment including but not limited to, air-handling units, furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, cooling towers, dehumidifiers (e.g., heat recovery for pool waterheating), pumps, and fans. As a Refrigeration A/C Technician, you will also perform multi-trade duties and daily tasks, as assigned.

Qualifications:

•Active licences in Ontario for Refrigeration and Gas-Fitting. For Refrigeration: Mandatory 313A Refrigeration Mechanic Licence. Must possess a current licence for the safe handling and recovery of refrigerants (including Ozone Depletion Certificate). For Gas-Fitting:
Mandatory minimum G1 Gas Fitting Licence, possessing the required
specialized tools and related equipment is an asset.

•Extensive years of proven municipal experience in the inspection, troubleshooting, repair and replacement of commercial, institutional and residential refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, normally acquired by a combination of education and relevant trade-related work experience.

•Excellent communication, customer service and teamwork skills and ability to relate well with professionals and non-professionals within and outside the organization.

•Ability to work independently with minimum supervision by managing your own time, and prioritizing work independently, and the ability to coordinate work effectively as part of a team.

•Computer skills, including experience with computerized Maintenance management, computerized work orders, MS Excel and MS Outlook email, an asset.

•Experience and qualification in the inspection, operation, Maintenance and repair of air conditioning, ventilation, automatic controls, etc., with the ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings where required, modify equipment when required for better control or efficiency, and adjust air-handling system controls to Maintain environmental conditions through BAS.

•Demonstrated knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, lock-out/tag-out procedures, asbestos awareness, working at heights, aerial lift, confined spaces, transportation of dangerous goods and all appropriate
safety rules.

•Additional relevant industry certifications, an asset: OBM1 – Oil Burner Mechanic 1, HRAC Certificate or equivalent, B Ticket, and experience on ammonia refrigeration systems.

•Additional municipal operations certification such as; WHMIS, First Aid, CPR, AED would also be an asset.

•Proven ability to monitor the operation of on-site contractors, complete all reports and required log books and refer problems to Supervisor, as necessary.

•Proven ability to receive and verify the delivery of various materials and supplies, in addition to assisting with the purchase of parts, components and materials for facility requirements.

•Flexibility to work on-call during the evenings and weekends as required.

•Valid Class G driver's licence. You must possess and maintain a Class G driver's licence valid in the Province of Ontario as well as a point-free driving record.
