Hi everyone Im new to all this. The question I want to ask you all is, Id just passed my G3 (TSSA) can I get my hours signed off by a G2 right away!? and challenge the G2 exam. Even tho Id already have the past experiences with the hours! Id worked in the past thats without the G3 but! Id worked along side with a G2 Technician as a helper/assistant

Much Appreciate
Thanks in advance

I don't know if they would accept it. I'm under the impression it's only after X amount of hours are obtained after you have the G3 can you then challenge. Similar to how you can't go for a G1 license without 4000 hours as a G2 with 500 being on equipment over 400kbtu.

In a some-what similar situation, you could have a guy who was a G3 for 10 years, then got his g2 and obtained 500 hours on large equipment, but still lacked 3500 hours while being a G2 and he still wouldn't theoretically be eligible for going for the G1.

I worked illegally as a helper for 10 years and I ended up taking the course at Algonquin for the G3 and then did the G2 at hi-mark. Doing it at hi-mark is pretty fast. I suppose you can always try if you feel you have the knowledge. It's just awkward showing experience you've obtained when you weren't properly licensed to begin with. Even with all the experience I had, I still found there was a lot to learn that you don't learn on the job.
