It seems Ottawa Hydro will be making and enforcing their own rules now.  See the attachment.

1. Any part of the gas meter must now be kept a minimum 3’4” horizontally from the hydro meter and any gas vent must be kept 3’4” horizontally from the hydro meter.

2. Every external vent must be kept 3’4” horizontally from the hydro meter.  (This includes oil fill pipes, bath, kitchen, dryer and HRV vents).

3. All HVAC equipment must be kept 1’8” horizontally from the hydro meter.  (This includes the AC and disconnect box).

And it only mentions horizontal clearances so does this mean I can still install an exhaust vent directly above the Hydro meter?

I think these utilities and the TSSA and ESA need to work together to create the same rules for us to follow.  The TSSA and ESA have already ruled that hydro meters are no longer considered a source of ignition, but I guess Ottawa Hydro did not get the memo.

Hopefully they just keep it in Ottawa lol. I heard the same thing about it not being a source of ignition not too long ago as well.
